At the heart of any effective skincare regimen lies the fundamental knowledge of one's skin type. With that been said, my last post was about understanding your skin type and conditions. What makes it five is sensitive skin, some people are born with sensitive skin and last time I explained why it a skin type and it can also be a condition because our skin can become sensitive to products, environment, treatment , or anything at any point. Each skin type comes with its own set of characteristics and requires tailored care to address its specific concerns.
Oily skin tends to produce excess sebum, leading to shine and often, acne. Those with oily skin should look for products that control oil production without stripping the skin of its natural moisture. Also exfoliating two to three times a week is important to oily skin so as to remove dead skin cells which are a bit difficult on oily skin because accumulation of oil and dead skin cells tend to clog the pore.
Dry skin on the other hand, lacks moisture and can feel tight and ages quickly than other skin type because it lack natural protection which is known as acid mental. The use of occlusive products is a must for this skin type to help maintain moisture, and hydration.
Combination skinpresents a unique challenge, as it can be oily in some areas (like the T-zone) and dry or normal in other area of the face. Finding a balance is crucial here, with targeted treatments for different areas of the face. Therefore, the use of products for all skin type will be of great help in treating combination skin.
Sensitive skinthis skin type may be extremely or mild sensitized. Products that are gentle are recommend. Products that are not gentle enough can cause breakout or irritations.
Normal skin is often considered the ideal skin type, with balanced moisture and water levels and few concerns. Nevertheless, it still requires proper care by using products to maintain it moisture and hydration level.
